Auditions
Every seat in the orchestra is auditioned at the beginning of each season. Applicants must be of ABRSM Grade 8 standard or above. The auditions are 10–15 minutes long and consist of a prepared piece, prepared extracts and sight-reading.

Rehearsals & Concerts
The University of London Symphony Orchestra is open to students from all London universities and around 150 students play with the orchestra each season. ULSO rehearsals take place each Tuesday evening of term between 19:00 and 22:00 in the Gloucester Road area, and there are additional rehearsals some weekends in the lead-up to concerts.
For the 2012–13 season, ULSO will be performing six concerts. The orchestra is reliant on membership subscriptions to fund music hire, venue hire, and conductors’ and soloists’ fees. For 2012–13, subs will be £45 for the year.
